NEW for Fall 2024!
From our certified organic farm to you, garlic bulbs ready for planting. October is the preferred month for planting garlic in most of the country, for a bountiful harvest next June. Our garlic is sold in one-lb. lots, which will be enough for about a 25-foot row.
Siskiyou Purple is a softneck artichoke type developed through many years of selection at Seven Seeds Farm in Oregon. 8-15 cloves per bulb, arranged in multiple layers with exterior ones largest. Flavor is milder than the hardnecks.
Growing instructions:
*Plant in fall, ideally in October.
*Separate cloves, and plant each one, growing tip facing up, about 4 inches deep and 6 inches apart.
*For best results, mulch after planting with a thick layer of straw, hay, or leaves at least 6 inches deep. Do not use wood chips.
*Harvest when leaves begin to lose color and flop, sometime between late May and early July depending on conditions.
*Hang bulbs by their stalks to cure in a dark cool spot.
*Ready for long-term storage after 6 weeks. Be sure to clip the roots for storage.
