This Japanese heirloom
culinary herb is best known in
the West as a sushi garnish,
but is ready to add its
mint/basil/clove charm to
many dishes. A great
ornamental edible with leaves
that have green tops and
purple undersides. Used in
pickling for its pink color and
its preservative qualities.
Also known as Perilla. This
vigorous strain is ‘Britton’.

Arrived quickly! Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get germination, but this tends to be an issue with Shiso since the seed is shorter lived than most vegetables. (Other seeds from this shop germinate well though!)

Seeds have sprouted as expected and even though I only have a couple true leaves they're already the "right" color.
