This beautiful eggplant with rosy purple fruits is a favorite for its mild sweet flesh and tender non-bitter skin. It was developed in Puerto Rico in the 1940s and has gradually made its way north. Fruits are fat teardrops that average 6 inches long and 4 inches wide.

This variety does very well in Magnolia, TX, 40 miles north of Houston. I contain it with 6-ft tall cage made with 6-inch steel mesh.

I’m not sure what happened with this particular batch of seeds since the Listada de Gandia in the same shipment were perfect and germinated quickly. In fact, the seedlings are doing quite well so far. These Rosita seeds were mostly broken and I had to pick through the packet to find only a few decent seeds. Of those, only one sprouted. I hope it grows. I’m very disappointed because I was so excited for this variety.

Haven’t tried every seed but out of the few I tried to grow, nothing happened. My other seeds I ordered did okay.
