These plants look and behave like vigorous and productive tomatillos until the finale of the fruits: yellow, elongated, often with a waist and tapered end, and at their best eaten raw. Crunchy, tangy and sweet, they make a fabulous tropical salsa, as well as a refreshing snack eaten out of hand like an apple. An heirloom from the Mexican village of Malinalco.
